Raise taxes to aid the northern border?
The motion by Vincent Margrove was whether the Eastern Steppe should collectively pay 1/5th of their income in order to pay for a system of watchtowers on the northern border.
Votes are as follows, and shall be carried by simple majority. Vote will run for 24 hours, and end at 17:01 BST on the 13th of July.
1. Yes
2. No
3. Delay the discussion until the next Council Meeting.
4. Yes, but the new tax not to be enforced until after the second council meeting.
Vote changing enabled for the duration of the vote.

It wasn't just for the north, if I read correctly. It's more or less a general fund for the Steppe.

I'll vote for 4. As much as I appreciate attempts to help the North and the Steppe, I can think of better uses for the gold at the moment: like raising some actual troops to defend the area.

An important question to ask is...
Will these taxes take effect the first week or the second? Some players already issued out orders for the first and may not want to go back to constantly edit them.
I revoked my vote (which was originally Yes) until this can be answered.

I assumed the orders are already given. So it will apply for the next turn.
And yes it was intended that the tax will affect everyone and that it will be used for everything from building watchtower to hiring mercenarys and so on...

We can alter decrees during the next session.
No :/ 4 means that it will happen after the next meeting. 3 means that it was open for discussion.

The tax did pass this time. I think we're paying for it next turn, aren't we? The governor has the power to open it for another discussion/vote though, if they so choose. At the council, of course.

with the current vote the tax only comes into effect after the next meeting. But it still can be changed before it comes into effect during the next meeting.

No, as it stand now we'll start paying after the next Council Session. So during that session (the second one) we can change it by way of a simple majority.
