A rider approaches...
A sealed letter is delivered to each lord and notable of the steppe, including the Clarion Call commander and the Company. The seal is a forward-facing lion.
- Spoiler:
- "My lords, ladies, knights, and burghers,
I, Tysha Abaddon, have fulfilled my promise made to the Council in Marleons. I have ventured to Poinsbruk with a host of troops to scout the ruins and the surrounding land. I have found our worst fears. A horde of the Mystmountain raiders lurks in the ruins, under a single banner. This is, without a doubt, an invasion force. There may be thousands lurking in Poinsbruk, and untold numbers may be marching to join them.
I call upon every loyal subject of the steppe to take up arms against this threat. If we march together, then we may cut the head from this serpent before its poison afflicts our lands. Force-march if you must, but arrive in Evasolde County within the month. We must strike quickly, as I cannot hold back the tide.
I do not call you forward to conquer, but to strike. I tell you in truth that we're not ready to retake the lands of the north.
We must cross into Poinsbruk and scatter this horde. Failing in that, we must take refuge and stop them at our river. With our combined strength, we can divert a portion of the horde away. We need not fear scattered raids, but an invasion force is another matter.
I call every soldier, whether the retinue of a great lord or a veteran of the last war. March to Evasolde, and defend your home."
Each letter is signed in Tysha Abaddon's own hand, and bears another wax seal.

Re: A rider approaches...
An open letter to the nobility of the Steppe;
- Spoiler:
- Greetings most esteemed guardians of the Steppe!
I have heard the Call to Arms, but find I am not in the position to answer with armed force. Instead, I will endeavour to use the wealth of my position to both encourage and reward those who do fight for our collective defence.
My husband gave his life defending these lands he held so dear, and I would like to honour his memory as best I can.
I hereby pledge a sum of 10 gold coins to whomever is tasked with leading the expedition, and a further 10 payable to them should this venture succeed.
May the gods watch over you as you fight, and grant you swift victory.
Most sincerely,
Countess Eadburgh.
Re: A rider approaches...
A rider, the gold harp and greatsword emblazoned upon a field of deep green, arrives at the temporary camp of Lady Tysha bearing a response to her call for aid.
- Spoiler:
- Countess Tysha,
Your letter brings great despair and apprehension to my mind. I have long believed that the Mystmountain barbarians prepare a great assault upon the South, but never could I have imagined that such an attack from the North could come so soon. I write this response with a heavy heart and a stiff hand, for if these numbers are no exaggeration, then I fear that there is little hope of repelling such an assault without the aid of the King and the lords of the West. Our lands are too poor and ill prepared to withstand an invasion, and our armies too weak in training and equipment to make an effective stand.
However, like the greatest of heroes in the songs of old that I have recited a thousand times, I would rather make one glorious stand worthy of legend than cower before those that would see us torn from the pages of history. I will fight until the end to defend the people of these Steppes, and thus I will come forth personally with a full host to do battle at your side. I pray only that the Gods will have mercy upon our righteous cause, for our enemy will not.
Yours, in confidence,
Lord Andros Vaaron, Count of Southrun County

Another reply arrives
- Spoiler:
- The great and majestic Comte Hernando de la Baldomero-Epifanio hears the cry for help from the north, and will heed the call!
We ride now to aid the lady Tysha and her erstwhile allies! The barbarians will quiver in fear before the grandeur of the Comte's cod-piece, and their women will quiver for other reasons!
Our mighty charge will be glorious, and the ruins of Poinsbruk will once again be filled with the cries of the dying and the wailing of the widows!
To battle! To glory!
