That you did. What vintage is this wine, if I may ask?
Also, any guesses on our visitors? Florian or someone who informs us of taxes is a good guess in my opinion at least.

Donations can be made directly in gold, or through political influence (prestige). Manpower will also be needed, at 5 prestige per unit, regardless of equipment. They are labourers here, not soldiers. Unfortunately we only have billets enough for up to four units per County. Overseers will be provided, captains not required.

Re: Council Session OOC
I think the military conquest route should be shortened to a one turn siege, followed by a battle. With the ability to move two hexes, only allies the farthest away would not arrive on the second turn. Troop movements the turn before might be a hint if it isn't a localized conflict too.
It just seems that two weeks of doing nothing is a little... much. Especially considering how slowly things progress here anyway. (Three months and all we've done is a horde battle the first month.)

I have to concur with that. While I'm not an aggressive player by nature (Laisha's bloodlust notwithstanding), pacing does seem a little slow.

Could we perhaps continue on, and run multiple votes like the last council? I prefer to finish before the next turn begins rather than deal with time-warping.

I'd like to point out that the only places in the Steppe that couldn't reach the battle on the second turn are the corners to corners. It seems having a second week where we don't issue orders but sit still would be a little... excessive.

But we'd be sure that they could reach them..for the amount of turns it takes to conquer far into the Mystmountains hexes.Tysha wrote:I'd like to point out that the only places in the Steppe that couldn't reach the battle on the second turn are the corners to corners. I don't think we need to worry about vassalizing each other in the far north. Is there anothe reason you think the 3 turn campaign minimum is good and/or necessary for the RP?

Considering that this is largely an OOC matter, if there's another reason for it it would be nice to have it stated.

Re: Council Session OOC
You attack a county, build siege equipment, breach the walls and sack the city. (with or without the sacking).. it's a rush job, giving you no claim over the county.
Sieging a county for multiple turns gives the idea that the current lord is unable to protect his lands alone and needs support from a benefactor.
That's an IC reason. Besides, only using one turn for the siege makes it no different than simply moving to that hex and attacking it the next turn, without having to make the necessary action of actually sieging a county.

Re: Council Session OOC
Except that affects pacing severely. Waiting two weeks for results is already long enough, waiting three risks just making people bored, especially if, for gameplay's sake, it is an action that should be quick and exciting.
Considering the corner county issue: Even if the corner counties are affected by having to march a long way, those scenarios are considerably less common than people being able to help each other within a turn. You should generally avoid making rules based on a minority of scenarios, particularly as it becomes increasingly inconvenient for the whole.

That's a fair point, but mine was more focused on the IC situation and process. I understand that for the game it's more fun to rush it.

We can build castles in a month; I don't think the IC is much of a concern here. It's all OOC mechanics.

Re: Council Session OOC
Well, clearly I find the difference between building a castle and laying siege to a county something very different.. but I'm probably on my own again, and that's why I just wanted to vote about it.

Re: Council Session OOC
So a lord can claim someone's county for 30 gold if the defender has only paid 100 gold? Seriously, that is just brutal...

Re: Council Session OOC
I'm unsure about the political one at all. I like the idea of using prestige (not so much gold...) to vassalize someone. In a sense you're so much better (the prestige) that it's only natural for the vassal to pay you homage. On the other hand a bidding war seems a little out of place and rather anti-climactic compared to a diplomatic or military struggle.
What about paying double prestige, with a certain minimum, to get a claim as liege of that count? Something like paying 40 prestige or double, whichever is more, for the claim. Then the payer would have a casus belli? I'm not sure what the casus belli does, since we take raids as offenses rather than as part of a raiding culture.
