Re: Character Biographies
Valdir Bazzano, Count of Talon March.
- Biography:
- Ferrand Astigi, Archdeacon of Mobray. (Astigi: purple grapes on field of orange)
He had murdered and burned, so that he could rule in the castle of Kelredan to please his own lust for power.
The Archdeacon failed and was send to a monastary in Poinsbruk to live out his remaining years in solitude and silence. Demoted and disgraced, the priest of Eunomia Stabilitis had given up on life and he commited suicide by way of poison, just one day before the Silvermist sacked the city.
While alive, the Archdeacon had hated his family name. As a boy he had dreamed of wars and swordmanship, but was send off to serve a God he didn't even believe in. His dreams out of reach and his brother inheriting the estate and vast wealth of the Ethosian Astigi family, the Archdeacon wandered from the priestly path more often than not. Drinking large amounts of wine and every day finding new ways to 'forgive' the confessing women.
The Archdeacon, in his prime, was send to Marleons when the commander of Marleons' third Banneret had requested some spiritual guidence for his men and family, while fighting in Ulric's war. The commander, Theofric, had a beautiful wife who both confessed and committed a sin twice a week in the Archdeacon's private chambers. The boy that had come from this union was the only one of the Archdeacon's bastards that carried his father's family name, as a mockery to nobility.
Bastard #1, Morten Astigi.
Morten Astigi grew up to be much like his father and doing the things his old man could only dream about. Mad from early age, Morten gathered a band of bastard sellswords and joined the Silvermists in the noble wars. He ended up betraying the Silvermists during the last days of the Noble Wars and sacked several of their encampements along the forest border. With all the wealth from four years of plundering and especially all the silver from those last few weeks, Morten and his band of mercenaries retired in Singal.
But Morten wanted more and his martial nature couldn't keep him still for long. He used his newfound wealth and some of his more martial abilities to buy the land and title of a eastern lord. However, he was smart enough to realise that the controversy surrounding his name would not help his legal rise into the high nobility, so in he send his half-brother Valdir to become a lord instead. Ofcourse, with the orders to create a strong foothold for Morten to become Marshall of the Pendorian Army.
Bastard #2, Valdir (black crossbow on Marleons red)
Valdir, unlike Morten, was no born and raised in Marleons' upperclass citizenry. He was born to a huntress in service of Mobray and from a young age he would accompany her and sing along with the sweet-tunes of his mother's voice. As he grew older, his voice became silver next to his excellent skill with the crossbow. But like all bastards, Valdir had a wildly nature and joined his ambitious half-brother the day after Morten had come to visit his aging father. (This is a couple of years before the 'Struggle of Kelredan' event)
Captain #1, Rabastan 'the swine'Count Valdir wrote:
Background: Bought Title, The spoils of war gathered by the Archdeacon's bastard Morten Astigi.
Trait #1:Charismatic, Morten had the Martial mind of the mercenary band, but Valdir had a silver tongue that had kept the band together after one of Morten's streaks of Mad misfortune.
Trait #2:Mercenary Captain, Serving the better part of his life in the mercenary world and being the one that kept the large group of sellswords together, Valdir still enjoys many good relations. Especially among those that fought alongside him in the noble war.[/b]
A stout man that was a little on the short side, had eyes that appeared to see right through you. Rabastan had been one of Morten Astigi's first followers and had the same cruel nature. He was very skilled in leading his men through difficult situations and ruled everywhere through fear alone. If Morten's band of mercenaries ever rested in a village, it had always been Rabastan that arranged enough women and supplies to boost morale..though Valdir had never seen him pay for anything.
He has seen him fight on occasions and it always seemed as if the stout Rabastan tried to mimic the shadow school by concealing various poisoned needles on his person.
Captain #2, Matarys II Sangendal
"As the remaining six brothers of the sword enjoyed their last meal at Valdir's table, one of them announced leaving the brotherhood. He had seen his friends die and despite their victory, would not be able to remain a mercenary. A talisman, looted from a shaman, had helped him come to the conclusion that it would his goal to avenge his brothers and obliterate the clan that had kept the bridge for too long. He, Matays II Sangendal, swore then and there that he would destroy the clan that had brought them Wolfbode the Slayer a few decades ago. Valdir saw an opportunity he could not ignore and offered the man a position as Captain in his employ. A position that was accepted, but only if the ambitious Sangendal would be allowed to rule the lands that Wolfbode's clan inhabited. He would make sure they'd never come back."
As ambitious as a Sangendal, Matarys comes from a noble stock known for their natural talent for close-combat, but also for their unfortunate streaks of misfortune. The heads of Sangendal house have all of them met early deaths unrelated to war. Either sickness of body or mind, or vendetta's claimed the lives of the Sangendal patriarchs. Will Matarys meet the same fate?

- The House of Lane
The House of Lane is an isolated house, typically not meddling in foreign affairs and were content with controlling their land, even during the Noble Wars. Of course, it did help that the House of Lane were renowned warriors, and it led a proud people that were warriors unto themselves.
However, the during the aftermath of the wars the same could no longer be said of the House of Lane. Simon Lane, the current ruler of the Lane Dynasty, looked toward the north. Long ago, the House of Lane used to rule more than a little province south of Poinsbruk; they were the warriors that stood against the Mystmountains in the north. The House of Lane and its warriors were the first line of defense, originally resting its castle on the frigid borders of Northern Ravenstern.
Now, Simon Lane musters his forces. He could care less about the power struggles of the others, but the northlands will be returned to their rightful owner...
Sir Tristan Wynn, "The Devoted"
The Wynn line has always been in service to the House of Lane, serving as paladins to the dynasty. Devoting themselves to Astraea, these paladins gave hope to the people and safeguard the lands of the House of Lane. While they share the same patron as the Knights of the Dawn, the Wynn line remains independent, not sharing in the same exact values of the Dawnites or the practice of burning suspected heretics at every opportunity.
Tristan Wynn is a good friend of Simon Lane, despite being younger than the baron. He is the main marshal of Simon's forces, and takes care of any war-related matters.

- The history of House Abaddon, and Tysha in particular, is linked to the fortunes of the Order of the Lion. The living members of the dynasty trace their lineage to a Lion knight from the time of the Order's first disappearance. More recently, Sir Tytos Abaddon was a knight of the Order of the Lion in service to the Kings of Sarleon. After two marriages that failed to produce children, Lord Tytos married an heiress from Janos to multiple his fortune. The House had always been wealthy, due to a variety of holdings throughout the whole of Pendor. Through sly dealings these assets were protected during the age of disunion and the frequent wars that ravaged Pendor. Although lacking castles of their own, doubtlessly through selling their lands multiple times to avoid being victim to the fortunes of war, the House was known to be amongst the richest in old Sarleon.
The Wars of Unification put an end to the prominence of Tytos Abaddon, who had risen to the rank of Captain within the Lions. Along with the rest of his Order, Sir Tytos was killed in the Siege of Sarleon by the soldiers of the future King Mordred and Duke Darlion. His eldest son and squire escaped the capital with a portion of the treasury, the family jewels, and his life. To escape the inevitable assassins of King Mordred and his Griffon duke, the heir to House Abaddon took holy vows as a priest, leaving his younger sister to inherit the wealth of the House. Most properties were seized, either by the Crown or the new lords that held King Mordred's cities in his name. Still, the gold in their hands remained considerable. Tysha became the wealthy heiress to a cursed name.
Instead of seeking shelter in a good marriage, or crossing the sea to live in Amala or Barclay, Tysha began hiring those in similar situations. Unlanded knights, dispossessed second sons, veteran soldiers, foreign adventurers, and would-be outlaws became her new family. To avoid suspicion, she hired her band of soldiers out to the highest bidder, usually the mercenary-reliant lords of Marleons and Avendor. The Law of Halves provided a boon to mercenaries usually not found in times of peace.
The Noble Wars were a productive time for the young captain, although she led from the front she often left the tactics to her bastard-born uncle or nominally cleric brother. By the time the wars ended, Tysha had joined the secretly reformed Order of the Lion. Her new contacts through the nobility, her ancestral links to the merchants, and her own battle-forged reputation among the free companies gave the traitor-orphan a great deal of influence given her relatively humble beginning. It was during the mop up of the remaining Silvermist garrisons that the Captain made her move. She seized an outpost for herself, and was recognized by several influential persons throughout the Kingdom.
Now the lady of a County in the Steppe, Tysha has disbanded most of her company and done what no Abaddon has in centuries: Held court in a castle.

- Bio:
- Vealdis Hullcleaver is the son of the late Volgis Bloodcoin, the ex-guildmaster of Windholm, and the brother of Helgi Goldtooth, the current guildmaster of Windholm. Volgis Bloodcoin thanked his name to his ruthless ways of keeping poor merchants and traders under his harrow and exploiting them for his own gain. Even though his reputation wasn't pretty, Volgis ensured a good life for his two children and he gave them the best education that was available in Windholm. Volgis molded Helgi into a fine Guildmaster and Vealdis used his father's influence and resources to establish a vast trading network in and outside of Pendor.
The years prior to the unification of Pendor were harsh for the fammily. Volgis became incapable in holding the position of Guildmaster which cleared the way for Helgi. Helgi was, in his own right, a wonderful guildmaster but thanks to the wars of the Fierdsvain not much gold flowed into the family chest thanks to higher taxes and the sieges that laid waste to the city's wealth. The brothers started scheming plans to end the wars or if possible, get rid of Koningur Valdis.
Their answer was handed to them when the usurper Mordred Adalhard waged long wars with the Fierdsvain and the other merchant princes also found that enough was enough. The merchants lead by Vealdis and Harl Forkbeard of Javiksholm mustered a force of mercenaries from over the sea and fought side by side with Mordred's forces when he besieged Javiksholm. The merchants demanded that Valdis resigned his title and that he must go into exile out of Pendor. The Koningur was furious but because he had not a force left that was able to hold out a long siege against the united enemy, he obeyed and left Pendor to an unknown location. The lords that were still loyal to the Koningur fell afterwards, sooner or later.
Vealdis and the other merchants did not do a claim to the city or lands and were happy enough with the promise of peace and the coin that was to be made with it. Vealdis returned to Windholm and waited out the rest of the war in peace with his brother, as their father died days before the unification.
A few weeks after the unification of Pendor, a royal herald came to Windholm with a message from the message that the brothers were to be rewarded with land in the East thanks to their effort in the war. They kindly refused saying that they would have no need for the land nor title but years later after the noble wars another herald came with the same message. The brothers, older and with an even more impressive trading network, accepted to open up better and cheaper trade to the East. Vealdis became count of ... while Helgi stayed in Windholm, taking over his brothers affairs aswell as being the Guildmaster.

- Character Name: Gunnar Stormbringer
Rank: Captain
Background: Former Vanskerry Raider
Quirks: Inexperienced Commander
- Biography:
- Vincent Margrove is the only Son of a Fierdsvain Farmer. He spent his early years within the boundaries of their home town. Life was hard as a Farmers Son and the frequent Vanskerry Raids made it even worse. He looked for a way to a better life but wasn't able to find one until he was already 14.
It was a normal and sunny day as Astrean Priests entered the Village with the task to build a Church. Vincent was impressed by the presence of the Priests, as soon as they spoke everyone was listening, and everything they said was believed. Even though they were new in this town they were immediately more respected than the Mayor. The building started soon and everyone helped. All the building materials and even food was donated and the populace went through even harder times as they had to split between building the Church and working on the field.
During that time Vincent tried to get closer to the Priests and worked harder than everyone else. Unfortunately they payed him no attention for a very long time until he was lucky enough to save the life of one of the Priests. He pushed him to the side as a huge log fell from the roof of the just build church. He was lucky that he didn't kill himself in the process. The Priest claimed that he was sent by the Goddess to save his life and that he had a greater purpose than just work the field his whole life.
From that day on Vincent traveled the lands with the Priests, at first he was sad to leave his Parents but the years flew by and had much to learn. He learned to read and write and to speak in front of groups of people. He learned to sway the hearts of the lowborn and to caress the ego of the Nobles.
The Priests quickly noticed his skill for talking, at times it was difficult to make him stop. So the years passed by until the day he turned 21.
On this day the Church offered him to accept him into their mids and make him a Priest as well. His reaction puzzled them but they quickly saw the wisdom in his speech.
"I am sorry but I can not accept the honor you are offering me. I am of much more use to Astrea as a normal Peasant than I am as a Priest. When I talk to the poor they see me as I am. One of them who made it into a good life. Thus I can show them that life has something to give them and the Church is always there for them. It gives them hope to escape their pity lives.
When I talk to Nobles on the other hand they seem to underestimate me as I am only lowborn. This gives me the freedom to talk as please with most, I can catch them unaware in front of their peers. And that is what most of them fear."
So from this day on Vincent was protected by the Church and acted on their behalf, but he was more free than any Priest or Bishop who was bound by his oath to Astrea. He traveled nearly all of Pendor but most of the time he was found in the old Fierdsvain Lands.
It was in this time when he met the best friend he would ever get. One day he came upon a battle between Vanskerry Raiders and an detachment of the Dawn. It was more of a massacre than a real Battle. The Raiders stood no chance against the Charge of the Dawn and quickly the ground turned red and all were slain except for one. As he got closer to the field of Battle the Leader of the Knights was about the execute the last survivor. He halted him mid swing and explained the the prisoner was of more worth alive than dead.
That day Vincent saved the life of Gunnar Stormbringer who traveled with him from this day onward.
For a Priest of Astrea it would be bad to be seen with a former Vanskerry Raider but Vincent used his position in the Church to protect him from harm and in return he helped him with tasks that were that needed other skills than he had. This way Vincent and Gunnar quickly gained prestige within the Church and outside. Problems were quickly solved and no one asked any Question about how it was done.
But his greatest day was still to come.
A few days after his 32 Birthday he was asked to travel to the Jatu Steppes and claim land for the Church. So he gathered his family and friends and made his way north into an unknown Future.

Biography: The son of a Fierdsvain Huscarl in service to Gunnar Doomseeker and a Sarleonian woman who plied her trade as a minstrel, Andros was destined to be a peculiar mix of warrior and troubadour. Born into the world in the dying phases of the Unification Wars, his father Haldor Vaaron, who at one time had fought tirelssly against the forces of Mordred Adalhard, now found himself in the service of she who would be Queen of Pendor, Gudrun Doomseeker, as one of her personal bodyguards. And thus Andros was brought up in the court of Sarleon, in a world of courtly civility, grand balls and noble pomp that could not have been further from his Fierdsvain homelands. Luckily he was but a suckling babe when he was brought to court for the first time, and thus he learned and adapted quickly to his new home as he grew. Under his father's stern but loving tutelage, Andros grew strong and wise in the ways of battle, the greatsword becoming his weapon of choice. He would spend hours with his mother Jenna as she would recite ballads of battles and great deeds long gone, and became almost as one with the lute as he was with his sword. By the time he was a man grown Andros was tall, brave and powerfully built as most Fierdsvain are, and well learned and educated due to the court's scholarly teachings and his mother's own wisdom. But it was not his size, his prowess with the sword or his worldly knowledge that he was known for at court. His greatest weapon was no sword, nor axe nor spear. But his voice.
He had, as some had claimed, an unworldly grasp of spoken word that, when expressed in the bardic traditions, conjured forth such emotion and power that his audiences could not help but fall, enraptured by the power of his words, whether they conveyed the greatest of triumphs, the most outrageous of comedies or the most heartbreaking tragedies. His popularity amongst his peers was great, and Andros would happily play for all that would hear him, from the scullery maids, to the palace guards, even the nobles that frequented the court so often to seek the council of the King. In time his ability came to the attention of one that would see his position amongst the lands nobility brought forth, Queen Gudrun herself. Overcome with nerves and with great apprehension, the young Andros played before the Queen nonetheless, and played with such conviction and passion so as to impress her majesty, and impressed she was. Thus began the first of many such audiences with the Queen, as he would play for her on many an occasion and, at times, even before the King, though it would appear that King Mordred had far greater concerns upon his mind to truly appreciate the arts of a bard as his wife did. Over time the meetings would become far less formal, and though it has never been said between the two, Andros honoured himself with the knowledge that he could call the Queen a friend.
There came a time however when the time for words was past and the need for a blade was dire. The over zealous nobles of Pendor began to squabble and war amongst each other, again dividing the land into factions and destroying a fragile peace. It was not until his father was slain in the defence of the Queen that Andros, overcome by grief, anger but also the call of honour, put aside his lute and took up his greatsword, donned his armour and marched for war, to avenge the death of his father, and to defend the realm against those that would see Her Majesty, his friend, harmed. The war was long and bloody, and Andros experienced some of its most pivotal points first hand as he followed the royal forces into battle. He found, however, that he could bring forth beauty from such carnage in the form of his words, and before and after each battle he would put quill to paper and write of the great deeds of he and his comrades. He would recite them by the campfire by night and on the march during the day, and as each man learned the words and sung with him his spirit rose, the camraderie amongst the troops would rise and with it the morale of the army. Many a time the troops were seen charging fearlessly into the fray whilst bellowing forth the words of Andros' ballads. Come the end of the war many claimed that his words had inspired a great many victories, though Andros was humble enough to deny such claims. As rewards were bestowed upon the victors and lands divided amongst the Crown's loyal retainers, Andros was stunned to hear his name called forth by the King himself. As he was presented with the patents of his new found nobility and his lands given to him, Andros could not help but give glance to the Queen, who said nothing, for her smile told Andros all that he needed to know behind this appointment. A smile that he returned fondly.

Biography : Lord Quiris Corax- Spoiler:
- If you looked through a certain building in the city of Sarleon, you would see a weary-looking man looking through parchments and signing several with well-practiced movements. The day is one of those cool first days of autumn: the sun is no longer warming, but the beautiful Pendorian fall colours have yet to set in. The man takes a sip from a cup filled with herbal tea and takes his eyes off the current parchment. Footsteps resound from the hallway on the other side of the door along with several thuds from a more solid source. The man didn’t react visibly to that, this particular visitor was expected after all.
A couple of seconds later the door was opened and a man stepped through, leaning on a cane. He was obviously Ravensternian given the very light complex of skin, not to mention the slightly puffed cheeks that were caused by biting them during the cold winters (and autumns, and springs, and summers for that matter). However, the man’s appearance belied his younger age. A black eye-patch covered the left eye of the visitor. The bald face was also covered in scarring, from burns and blades if the marks were anything to go by. The sitting man was somewhat taken aback by what he saw, but recovered quickly.
”It is good to see you again friend, it has truly been long since we last had a chance to converse properly. Please, sit down. Would you like some tea? Herbal, from Walden.”
The scarred man limped to the table and took the chair. Normally it would be used for those seeking to talk business with the sitting man, but now it served in a more relaxed situation.
”Bah, still sticking to the courtly manners, I see. Sitting here has done nothing good for you. I’ll pass and get straight to the business. How is my sister?
The scarred man grunted something obscene afterwards and stared intently with his remaining eye. The man opposite to him didn’t even flinch, although his smile seemed to fade a bit.
”She is doing well, I would dare to say. She has reached the advanced level of training long ago, but seems to be content on working as a retainer for now. In other words, she is safe, and I have kept my word”
”Hmph, at least there is some form of Ravensternian competence left in you. I will make my way to the Roost. I will be expecting you there once you have finished whatever you are working on now.”
Without further ado, the scarred man rose and limped out of the room with his walking stick. He didn’t bother to look at the other man, who only stared back and muttered:
”I’d be damned, times haven’t been easy on you friend…”
Quiris Corax is an aristocrat from the pillaged Poinsbruk. From childhood he has been trained by his highly ambitious father alongside his only sister, and later joined by a servant to the family. Sufficient to say, he hated it. More scholarly and “civilized” by nature, he sought to gain prestige through academic means in the great libraries of Poinsbruk, in contrast to the more martial head of the house. His father was rather mixed on that. The old patriarch was a member of the Raven Spear’s militant wing and had started to gain influence within the order. The now-dead man had hoped for his heir to follow in his footsteps, but his son had other ideas. He joined the academic wing and started from the beginning, even if it meant wasting the effort gone into the endless drills that had dominated is childhood.
However, politics are dangerous, especially in a city that is under a power struggle by three different knightly orders. Quiris recognized this, and sent his sister pre-emptively away to his friend in Sarleon. It was a good choice, for the Raven Spear was treading on thin ice between the two stronger orders. This became apparent when the siege of Poinsbruk started. The Raven Spear hadn’t sat idly by, though, but had fortified their other fortresses along with their chapterhouse in the city. It didn’t help much in the long run. While the other orders were content on leaving the castles alone, Mystmountainees had different ideas. In the battles that followed their descent from the mountains, all of those castles were sacked and looted. Nothing seemed to stop them from advancing through the steppe, and Quiris himself was captured in the sacking of Poinsbruk.
Being a captive to vengeful barbarians was anything but pleasant. During the month he spent captured by the Northeners, Quiris received all of the burnt and cut body scarring that cover nearly his whole body. He also lost one of his eyes to a particularly spiteful priest. After a month had passed, he got a chance to escape through a lacking binding. Quiris still remembered all of the training he had received and used it to great effect when he killed his guards, stole some equipment and rode off with a horse. He made the long travel to Ravenfort, his old home, south of Balanli River, and the last standing bastion of the once proud Raven Spear. Most of the order had been killed in the battles with only some scatters remaining and licking their wounds.
While Quiris was not particularly known within the order, his tale of escaping his captors was inspiring to the tattered remnants which rallied behind his banner. He gathered the remaining survivors and led them over the river against the Mystmountainees. The company managed to score several victories against the invaders, more through tenaciousness than actual skills in battle, and their crusade culminated in the battle of Ismiral where the company destroyed a force thrice their size. However, the casualties forced them to finally end the journey and retreat, leaving their old homes to the enemy. Returning to Ravenfort, the survivors came to an agreement. They would make their base of operations in the castle and start rebuilding the order, onerous as it might be. There weren’t many knights left, but the noble wars had come to an end and the north-side of the river had pacified somewhat. Quiris, the legal lord of their castle via inheritance from his father, was dubbed the new grandmaster of the newly hatching Raven Spear and took his current name, the original forlorn and forgotten.
Quiris has sworn that he won’t rest until the Mystmountainees are driven back. Dragons couldn’t do it, so Poinsbruk calls for the Raven Spear to do what the so called guardians of Ravenstern couldn’t. It might take long, but the order accepts this, near extinct as they may be.

Biography :- Spoiler:
- Many years ago, a man named Keller McCulloch fought for Ravenstern. A lowly squire, he did battle alongside mighty knights of valor against the tribes of the Mystmountain Range. Though weaker than many of his fellows, he rose through sheer determination and was eventually was knighted to the Order of the Falcon and even granted a small manor in the village of Walden. Retiring shortly before King Gregory IV's purge of the order from his lands, Sir Keller remained neutral and kept his backwater manor from being taken.
A decade later, a young girl was brought to his doorstep, her family and life robbed from her by the Mystmountains. Under his tutelage and despite the odds, she trained to become a knight, learning both bow and blade. After yet another fierce Mystmountain attack, his niece went on her way, to become the knight she always dreamed she would be.
And so it came to pass. Despite the ridicule, she became a knight of the Clarion Call. Yet she was only a knight for a few years before she witnessed the near destruction of her order in battle. To stay afloat with the few dozen survivors, the order banded together with the Silvermist Rangers, an arrangement that seemed necessary to her...at the time.
With time, however, she grew discontent. The Rangers' leaders were ambitious and cunning. They sought power that she feared would drag the still-weak Clarion Call into war. A war that she, nor her knight brothers, wanted or needed. Even when she was given command of an army, she felt more consternation over the army's existence than pride at the command. So much so that she, and her loyal lieutenant, vanished mid-battle.
They wouldn't resurface again for four years. But they would watch. Observe. Plan. In secret, they worked to save the Clarion Call from the Noble Wars. And one day, when all was ready, the young woman and her lieutenant returned from their “exile” and, together with the leaders of the Clarion Call, marched their forces from their home in Laria and to the north. There, they would stop the Mystmountain barbarians from destroying any more.
And for her, the fight was personal.
The order declared neutrality in the wars as it fought the incursion. For their valor and faithfulness (and perhaps for indirectly helping to defeat the Silvermist), the Clarion Call retained what little it had after the fighting. However, Laria was lost as their bastion With much of the landed leadership dead and gone, however, making a claim in Eastern Pendor from which they could rebuild proved difficult.
The young woman stepped up yet again. Once she would have been content to be a scout for the rest of her life, traveling the wilderness for her order. Circumstance dictated otherwise. Taking on the surname of her uncle and using her relation to him as her claim to power, Lady Laisha, “Whisper of the Clarion Call” became Countess Laisha McCulloch.

- Biography:
House Amelion is descended through the family of Sir Lathon, one of the founding members of the Knights of the Lion, a close friend to Sir Roderick the Red. The house, never rich in land or titles, was rich in deeds throughout much of Pendor’s history.
However, during the Unification wars, the house was decimated, and its last survivors being the daughters and widows of the slain, and Everard’s father. Everard’s father was never into the martial aspect of being a noble. He instead focused on securing the position of guildmaster in the guild of Avendor. The last holding of the ancient family was their ancestral town of Amelion, on the slopes of the mountains near Mistmire.
When the Knight orders began to rise in power, the Dawn secured Dawnbreak Reach as a new county. Everard’s father, with his property falling within their control, pledged fealty to the Grandmaster of the Dawn. People commented that he became far more religious, and became Astraean.
The Astraeans in Avendor gained much influence in the duchy of Avendor, to the point where before the noble wars broke out, 3 out of 5 nobles in Avendor duchy were Astraeans. Soon, Astraean merchants dominated trade in the duchy, and Astraean shrines were in almost every town.
Everard was sent by his father to the monastic school in Dawnbreak Keep to join the church as a priest, however life would have a different plan for Everard…
His studies interrupted by the wars, Everard during the Noble wars marched with the Dawnites on several occasions, having to aid the garrison in repelling Dragon raids into their territory, and at one point taking Falcondark castle from the Dragons. Afterwards, Everard received word that his older brother Alan had died alongside much of Duke Brennus’s host. Everard, taking what studies he did finish, and the experience of the wars, returned home to Amelion for his father.
The noble wars had decimated the Dawn’s ally, the order of the Silvermist, and created a power vacuum in the East. The church decided to send out loyal followers to establish a following in the East. The war had seen many counties change hands, and the church possessed the old title of the county of Isenfeld. The loyal Everard was sent Eastwards to take control of the county, and ensure the interests of the church were upheld in that region.
Armed with a fierce faith, his family name, and his personal will, Everard was ready to make a difference in the East.

- Spoiler:
- A recent immigrant from the shores of Barclay, Rolando Juarez was born into an unremarkable noble family. The youngest son of many, he joined the Church of Astraea at a very early age. Eventually, he became a promising young priest that advanced to position of some prominence in his homeland.
Shortly after the end of the Noble Wars, Rolando traveled to Valonbray, having achieved the title of Bishop and the respect of fellow clergy. It was here that he quickly forged relationships with many former members of the New Dawn, which would prove quite useful. However, he didn't stay in Western Pendor for very long and was soon assigned to spread the word of Astraea across the continent in lands that the Church recently acquired.
