King Mordred killed off all the Jatu. It's why the steppe could be colonized in the first place. For the record, I'm completely resisting my impulses of saying 'This is utterly absurd! The steppe can't be colonized properly!' as I did in previous games. >.>

In Shadow War/AKD we brought the Jatu back by saying... well, as we did quite frequently: History repeats. An invader from Amala sails to Pendor with a Jatu horde as part of his force. They scattered near the Empire lands and into the D'shar steppe... and aren't nearly as prominent. But still, they're there!

No no... King Mordred, as the quasi-official PoP3 PC (for all of these purposes, he is the official) killed the Jatu. Or drove them off. Or otherwise put an end to their presence in the steppe. When we started up the second RP (Shadow War) we tried to get things back to being as close to PoP3 as we could... while still being far enough in the future to handle whatever PoP4 might have thrown at us. Bringing back the Jatu was a part of that. So in our fanon timeline, the Jatu return like 80 years from now with an invader army led by Brencis the Bold. Razz

Mordred is a former dev of PoP3/4. He was not 'former' when the first RP, Aftermath, began. Now he's our grandfather of wisdom and crazy-old-man of lore.

So, which kind of hex (for the gamey reasons) are you hoping for? Manpower, wealth, balanced? Isolated, connected, away from other players or nearby? ANSWERS.

Bah, children and their squabbling. Simon Lane cares not for ~~world domination~~ ruling the Eastern Council, all he wants is to rebuild his former home back to glory. After that, maybe he'll start offering his men as mercenaries. Otherwise, he'll be happy keeping to himself and keeping then northern borders secure of Mystmountain invasions.

Just don't declare war against him. I think Simon will not be pleased in the slightest if people start attacking him and his people...

Story-wise, Simon's homeland is hex 11 or 16. Once he maintains control of his home, he'll focus on turtling and taking care of himself. Gameplay-wise, I would like to start in Hex 13 or 18 for the resources and the short route to where Simon wants to resettle.

Correct. Mordred forged close ties with Mettenheim (and there are rumours that he himself was a Mettenheimer, though nobody knows his background). Pendor exported many tonnes of food to Mettenheim during the height of the famine, and continues to lease lands in the the Fierdsvain territory to the Count of Mettenheim, with whom it is reputed that Mordred is now close personal friends with.

Sneak peak at how things look at the start. Ignore "New Total" that is just part of a bigger spreadsheet. Eventually I will find a way of ranking this, once things like Prestige are added, so that you can get a truer picture of who ranks where... if you want that level of detail - it might be nicer to not actually know where you sit in comparison to others.

(Note this only counts recruited soldiers, so troops granted through traits are ignored)

Note; it was brought to my attention that the above chart makes it look like you begin with 2 weeks income instead of 1. It's still just the one (ie, the Banked column, ignore the Income, Spent and New Total). Income is just there to give a handy description of what cash you can expect to receive.
